Wow! This is SO worth the time! Took some time to get through with everything, since I am used to classes focused on only one topic - but I love how you get so so much in here that someone might need to know, and in a pace that's just right! Will be coming back for other classes for sure!

I really needed to reinforce my understanding of the digital painting process. This lesson has more to offer in the process and specific tools and technics for the final render.
This course has had a generous amount of benefit of the doubt from me. It starts off with the basics, which is perfectly fine considering that’s exactly what’s advertised. However this is where my first major problem with the course starts. Many basic concepts in photoshop are explained either poorly, or flat out incorrectly. One particular comment that made me very sceptical was the blending tools (multiply, lighten, etc) being compared to ‘instagram filters’... there are similar problems all the way through the basic sections, as others have noted. The mask tool is not utilised anywhere near enough. The course explains the benefit of not working destructively; why doesn’t it uphold this principle? The pen tool is never mentioned. This is a far more powerful, flexible tool which is designed to create many of the effects that are made in this course. Cut is used synonymously with the delete function, which is a very bad workflow to teach, as in a program like photoshop, you may be wasting a significant amount of memory on things you don’t intend to use. It’s also infuriating. This may not be a problem for me and others with a similar level of experience, because we aren’t the ones these lessons are for. This is a much bigger problem for those who don’t know better already, because they are being taught false or misleading information. Glazing over details to come back to more complex concepts later on is reasonable, but not explaining something due to a lack of knowledge or research is just negligent. This is often how this course comes across. My breaking point was finding an episode that has mistakes that have not been edited out of the video (A course which is 3 years old, mind). There is a level of care missing from the course that others (in some cases, free youtube courses!) don’t seem to be missing. It’s unreasonable at this point (Just under 4 hours) to expect this to change as we move into more complex topics.
Awesome course so far. I just wish his voice was fuller on the mic. At times I feel disconnected. But hey.. that could also be because I have ADD ?

I sampled the previews first, because honestly, I wanted to know that I would learn from this as a) I'm not quite a novice but not an expert either, so I wanted something that would teach the basics and beyond, and 2) had to be someone I could tolerate listening to for long periods. I found both here. In the previews, I learned effects (the pop-out) that I hadn't known before, and I am so excited to continue and improve my artwork.
I've experienced many tutorials from various artists, but he explains from basic concept for painting very well, so I'm very pleased to take this course.
This is really a good course, it starts with a good introduction to Adobe Photoshop and-illustrator, you learn the fundamentals of lighting, textures, and shapes and then you go straight ahead with illustration and digital painting. In a short period of time, you are marstering your own digital creations.

Great course, it is four star because I'm at the half ot it, but surely it will win a 5 star raiting. The course has good explanations, in depth looks to some of the topics and mostly they show you many real life appliable tips for digital painting. The only thing I could suggest is more specific and practical excersise, buty if you are keen on self taught courses this is really great, here you have freedom and not follow step by step, but it could be good to have some of those step by step excersises, maybe this: create a creature, a human character, a house or castle, etc. something like that. The only thing I have few struggle with was identifying the layers because they had no name, but if you have common sense you can figure them out. Great job.
